Program Coordinator

CollegeTracks seeks an energetic, passionate, and highly skilled individual to serve as the Program Coordinator for its Watkins Mill High School Access Program. 

The Program Coordinator will help the Program Director manage the day to day operations of CollegeTracks’ college access program which guides students and parents through the college search, application, standardized test preparation, financial aid, and transition to college processes. The Program Coordinator will report directly to the Watkins Mill High School Program Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management

  • Recruit students into the program with the goal of active and continuous engagement
  • Coordinate and conduct workshops on key steps in the college application process
  • Provide college and career advising to students and families about the college admissions and financial aid process
  • Develop and deliver outreach presentations to students and families in the school and community
  • Establish and maintain close collaborative relationships with school administrators, counselors, teachers, staff, and community groups
  • Train and supervise volunteers
  • Develop relationships with college personnel and advocate for students as needed
  • Identify students for local and national scholarships
  • Continue to learn about colleges and their programs that would best serve our students

Data Collection & Analysis

  • Accurately record and present data on program’s activities and student outcomes
  • Analyze and use data to help determine next steps for individual students and for the program
  • Deliver regular programmatic reports entailing program narrative and quantitative data

Internal Program Collaboration

  • Provide information and reports as needed for grant applications, other funding/collaboration opportunities, and special projects
  • Collaborate with CollegeTracks’ Wheaton High School & Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School program teams to refine tools, strategies, and solutions to meet student needs
  • Work in concert with CollegeTracks Success team to successfully identify, recruit, and transition Watkins Mill CollegeTracks students to the CollegeTracks Success Program

Collaboration with External Partners

  • Serve as a CollegeTracks program champion with the public school system, target colleges, and broader community
  • Support Program Director in developing relationships with college admissions and financial aid staff to increase student opportunities
  • Identify potential opportunities for collaboration with university administrators, campus departments, community partners, and other groups to provide strategic support linked to our core mission

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in social work, counseling, education or related fields (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Prior work experience with under-represented students in high schools, college access, college admissions, higher education (certificate, 2-year, and 4-year programs), youth development, teaching and/or counseling, or college retention programs
  • Working knowledge of college admissions, higher education, and public school systems (certificate, 2-year, and 4-year programs), college retention, and/or public school systems.
  • Superior interpersonal and relationship-building skills; effectiveness in the role depends on ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the work environment including with students, CollegeTracks colleagues, school staff, volunteers, and community members
  • Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and program/event management skills

SKILLS

  • Strong computer skills required in Microsoft applications including Excel and Publisher
  • Demonstrated proficiency with database programs and data analysis – familiarity with SalesForce or similar relational database platform a plus
  • Excellent communication skills- verbal and written
  • Proven problem-solving and independent decision-making skills
  • Must be extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Comfortable multi-tasking in fast paced work environments

  • Passionate about equal access to higher education; willing to advocate relentlessly on behalf of our students
  • Access to reliable transportation, smartphone, and laptop required
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable
